Who am I?

Hi I’m Jacquie Chandler.  I’ve been working with clients across the lifespan for over ten years with extensive experience in working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Teams and specialist Eating Disorder Services.

I am passionate about working within the field of mental health which for me extends beyond employment.  I believe that change and making a difference to those with mental health difficulties is both possible and achievable and enables clients to develop a positive wellbeing.  I understand that change is difficult and so I work at the individuals pace to ensure they’re moving forward in a positive and sustainable way.

As a qualified Cognitive Behavioural therapist as well as having training in family therapy I have extensive knowledge in a number of therapeutic models to ensure that treatment is tailored to the individual and families’ needs.

Entering in therapy can be anxiety provoking in itself and thus I believe that a positive therapeutic relationship is essential in ensuring clients feel comfortable to talk about their difficulties.  Therefore I have a calm, non-judgemental and patient approach with clients that works at the individuals’ pace. I’m able to offer evening and weekend appointments that will hopefully help reduce the disruption to your life and make treatment more accessible.

I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist registered and accredited with the BABCP. I have an undergraduate degree in Criminology and Psychology, a Masters in Educational Psychology and a post-graduate diploma in Cognitive Behavioural therapy.  Most recently I have been studying towards a post-graduate certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Long-term conditions including cancer, COPD and diabetes.

Training, qualifications & experience:

From 2008 I worked in specialist education and charity based organisations supporting young people with learning and/or social needs. Moving on from this I worked in community child and adolescent mental health teams for several years as a mental health practitioner providing CBT intervention and forming part of a reflective team delivering System Family Therapy.  From there I went on to work in a Specialist Eating Disorder Service for Young people, during this time I completed training in family based therapy and delivered this as well as CBT to families, individuals and groups. Over this time I have delivered evidence based parenting programmes on challenging behaviour, self-harm and eating disorders. From there I moved on to primary care services, working with adults with Mental Health difficulties. I have also undertaken training in supporting clients with Long Term Conditions including but not limited to diabetes, cancer and COPD.
