Depression
Nearly everyone will experience moments of low mood at various times in their life, however depression is a long lasting low mood which leaves individuals feeling unhappy about themselves and can impact on everyday tasks including ones that individuals used to derive pleasure from. This can cause people to become increasingly isolated and suffer additional problems with sleeping, eating and activity levels.
Who is impacted and why?
Depression is a common mental health difficulty which is believed to impact individuals across the lifespan. Research studies evidence that women suffer more than men, however this is likely to be due to many individuals who experience the symptoms of depression not seeking support.
Many different situations can lead to the onset of depression, including childhood experiences, lifestyle traits or bereavements. For many clients it can be a multitude of reasons that leave them feeling depressed and no two clients are the same.
